| What is Wu Ch'uan Chi Tao Gung Fu? |
| "A Chi Tao Gung-Fu adept reacts like the applied laws of the universe. The lightning strikes, so the thunder sounds. The winds blow, so the tree bends. The attack comes, and the response is natural." -A Chi Tao Saying |
| The style primarily taught is the famed 8 Animal System, called Chi-Tao Gung-Fu (Chi-Tao T'iao Ho Ch'uan Tao). |
| Chi Tao Gung Fu is the name of a Martial art which was modernized and refined
by the late Grandmaster Ho (Hung Ma). He founded 5 leading Nei Chia (internal) Chuan Arts: The Imaginary Fist art,
the Invisible Fist art, the Intellectual Fist art, the Hidden Fist art, and the Wisdom Fist art. He also founded 2
secret styles of fighting taught to very high ranking masters only known as Wu Chi Tao arts which are: the Black Scorpion
Master Arts and the Silver Phoenix system. This system teaches the following martial systems: Tiger, Leopard, Panther, Crane, Praying Mantis, Eagle, Black Cobra, and Wild Boar. These are not to be confused with the Shaolin Martial arts (Buddhist System) or Modern Wu Shu but are Taoist in nature (natural in nature). The Animals Systems have methods for developing a person’s Bones, Muscles, Strength, and Stamina. As well as new methods of thinking an d spirit building. This is highly in depth teaching and is only traditionally taught in the way of the Eight Animal (8 lower Trigrams) System. This system is based on the belief that there are eight "Types" of Human Psychological Types. The ancient Masters of Old looked about the World of Nature, and sought vivid examples of behavior which were symbolic, to be easily remembered by their students, rather than dry theoretical concepts. The Masters have taken great pains to point out that the Animal System can be applied in life, but only as a Training Aid in Self Discovery and in combat physically and mentally... Not as a Social Scheme for Ordering Society, or a Political Ideal. That would be a waste. |
| Methods of Teaching |
| This system is taught in the traditional manner,
from teacher to student, with a sense of mutual respect. Customary interview with a
master is required before acceptance for study in our system. These arts are not watered
down sports filled with unrealistic techniques and dry theories, but because of its serious nature
and thorough teaching methods, the training is for the serious practitioner of true Chinese and
Asian martial arts systems. A student will learn all traditional aspects of Gung Fu
training...including various herbal and physical healing methods. It is said that a
Chi Tao adept "should be able to take a person apart and nearly put them back together".
This is our 'Tao' or Way...and is one foundation of our art. This is a traditional temple system and a multi-level martial arts style. Each phase is more detailed than the last one. A person has to contact the school and go for an interview with a Master. If accepted, they are on probationary study. After their first Rank Test, he is accepted as a student on Probation, which lasts one to three years. After the student grades are passed, further training goals are to be met and certain skills developed before they are moved to the next phase of training. Remember you can study Gung-Fu all your life and still not master it! Most of the traditional schools of Kung-Fu or Gung-Fu (same word) that use a sash system for ranking, do so to show advancement upon the path to skill & development. Our system begins with a black sash signifying ignorance. However this is not to be confused with stupidity, it simply means an area in which one is not familiar or proficient at. While at first, this may seem difficult, it is most rewarding in general health, wellness, and the overall betterment of oneself. It is well worth it. |
